fable
A fable is a animal story that usually tells us a lesson in life. Below is one story which i found rather applicable to me... and maybe for you.. just read on :)
The Moth and the StarA young impressionable moth once set his heart on a certain star. He told his mother and she counselled him to set his heart on the street lamp instead. 'Stars aren't the thing to hang around, lamps are the things to hang around, you will get somewhere this way' His father said 'You won't get anywhere chasing stars'
But the moth would not heed his parent's words and every evening at dusk when the star came out, he would start flying towards it. Every morning at dawn he would crawl back home worn out with his vain endeavour.
One day his father said to him 'Look at you! you haven't burned a wing in months and it looks like you were never going to. All your brothers and sisters have been burned and singed flying around street lamps. Now get out of here and get yourself scorched! A big strapping moth without a scorch mark on him!'
He left the house but he would not fly around street lamps. He went right on trying to reach the star which was four and one-third light years away or twenty-five trillion miles away.
The moth thought that the star was caught in the top branches of a tree. He never did reach the star but he kept on trying, night after night, and when he became a very old moth, he began to think that he had really reached the star and he went around saying so.
That gave him a deep and lasting pleasuer and he lived to a ripe old age. His parents and all his brothers and sisters had all been burnt to death when they were still young.
Moral of the Story'Who flies afar from the sphere of our sorrow is here today and here tomorrow'Basically it means to leave our well-trodden path in life and our old miserable ways and to try something new and make turn somewhere along the road. It might have unexpected results that might be just what you want.
